Penobscot Nation Museum

The Penobscot Nation Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Penobscot Indian Nation and the Wabanaki people, that spans thousands of years of habitation before the first Europeans set foot on what we know as Maine

Our collections include pre-historic stone tools, birchbark canoes, traditional Eastern Woodland basketry, ceremonial root clubs, clothing and beadwork. These items heighten awareness of the achievements, talents and struggles of those who have come before us.

In addition to preserving the past, the Penobscot Nation Museum maintains a strong commitment to continuing Wabanaki cultural traditions through education and outreach.
