Pemaquid Beach is owned by the Town of Bristol in midcoast Maine. It is operated by the Bristol Parks Commission for the Town of Bristol and a "sister" park to the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park.

A member of the Healthy Beaches program Pemaquid boasts clean clear water, always testing as one of the cleanest beaches on the Coast of Maine. The white sugar sand is groomed daily to ensure beach goers enjoy the cleanest beach setting possible.

Scientists will tell you this is a "pocket beach" and the sand is left over from the last glacier. But beach-goers will tell you that this is one of the best places to spend a sunny, summer afternoon.
Pemaquid Beach has been a favorite for families for decades. With that in mind, the Parks Commission makes several amenities available to make your day at the beach more enjoyable. We offer large changing rooms and a shower room to rinse off the beach sand. Popular with the younger beach goers is the outdoor shower tower to rinse off little feet and legs.

You'll find a Beach Shop stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas and toys to rent. If you forgot your sunscreen or need an extra beach towels, the Beach Shop has those too.

Guests with mobility issues can request to be taken onto the beach in our "Gator" purchased for that purpose. The energetic staff raised the funds to purchase the "Gator" through fundraisers and barbeques. In 2014 the Gator saw daily use and proved to be a worthy investment.

The Snack Shack has been operated by the Mason family since 2009. It is located in the pavilion building. The Mason's take pride in the beach fare they offer with a reputation for friendly service and reasonable. Ask for the daily special, it might be lobster rolls.

Since 2003, the Parks Commission has been partnered with the Pemaquid Watershed Association to offer a unique nature center called "Beachcombers' Rest". Located inside the beach pavilion, the nature center features exhibits and displays describing the ecology of the beach. Throughout the summer, Beachcombers' Rest offers a series of hands-on exploration events. Plan to spend some time discovering the underwater world of the tide pool or the mysteries of sea glass. Get face-to-face with a Hermit Crab during the weekly Touch Tank visits. Or sign up for one of the summer's Sand Castle competitions. It's a fun way to learn -- for kids and grown-ups alike.

Right next to Beachcombers' Rest, inside the pavilion, is the Community Room. This space is equipped with tables and chairs to accommodate up to 60 people. In addition, the Community Room is outfitted with a full kitchen, including an oven, stove, grill, refrigerator and sink. Two large barn doors open on the park's picnic area, providing additional room, plus easy access to the beach. With all these amenities, the Community Room is a perfect spot for a meeting, seminar, or wedding reception.
