In 1796, young Daniel Marrett, a recent Harvard graduate, moved to Standish, Maine, to become the town minister. He purchased a Federal-style house built in 1789 for his predecessor. The imposing house reflected his status as the community's leading citizen.
In 1944, the Marrett family's long-time home became a house museum. It is owned and operated by Historic New England.
