8th Maine Regiment Lodge and Museum

The 8th Maine Regiment Lodge and Museum is on the National Historic Registry.  It was originally built in 1891 as a reunion hall by Civil War veterans.  Today the Lodge welcomes visitors and guests from around the world.  The Lodge contains 14 rooms, each of which may be reserved by the public.  Go to 8thmaineregimentpeaksisland.com to see pictures of the rooms and the surrounding scenery.  All rooms are decorated in a Victorian style of the time.  The Lodge is located on the south side of Peaks Island in Casco Bay.

The Lodge has very adequate restroom facilities.  All guests share them.
There are no private baths.  Guests also share a communal dining hall and kitchen area.

Artifacts and written primary source material of the Civil War, most directly donated by veterans, is displayed in the building.  All guests can receive a tour of the beautiful building and learn more about the role played by the 8th Maine Infantry Regiment in the Civil  War.
