Grants for Maine's Tourism Regions, Special Events and Targeted Tourism Efforts

The Maine Tourism Marketing Partnership Program (MTMPP) was created to assist with the implementation of marketing programs designed to stimulate and expand Maine’s travel and tourism economy by coordinating the promotional efforts of the private sector with those of the Maine Office of Tourism (MOT) and its eight designated tourism regions.  Projects must be aligned with and support the MOT’s Destination Management Plan & Stewardship Principles.

Qualifying organizations must be a Maine non-profit organization, municipality or tribal government.

Maine Communities Grant

The Maine Communities Grant Program provides support to tourism focused, community-oriented marketing projects and events.
Grants will be awarded each cycle for amounts from $2,500 to $5,000.

Enterprise Marketing Grant
The MTMPP Enterprise Marketing Grant supports tourism marketing initiatives that will increase visitation to the applying destination. The primary goal of the Enterprise Marketing Grant is to support marketing efforts that help move organizations toward sustainable growth that contributes to the overall advancement of the tourism economy in Maine. Tourism Enterprise Marketing Grant Applications are accepted for a minimum amount of $5,000 and a maximum amount of $30,000.

Special Event Grant

The intent of the Special Event Grant is to provide marketing funds to existing, well-established events for the expansion and progression of marketing strategies to attract new audiences, increase overnight visitation and length of stay. Special Events have the ability to strengthen Maine’s brand and image nationally and internationally, have a direct economic impact on the state economy and attract visitation to Maine’s shoulder season.  Two Special Event Grants are awarded each fiscal year (one award per cycle) for a minimum amount of $30,000 and a maximum amount of $60,000.

NEW- MAINE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT GRANT

The primary goals of the Maine Tourism Development & Management Grant are to support tourism development, education, and management projects that will:

  • Support and enhance collaboration among key destination organizations to develop, enhance and/or manage the overall resident & visitor experience in Maine destination areas.
  • Create sustainable growth within the tourism sector that aligns with the Maine Office of Tourism’s Destination Management Plan.
  • Provide qualified, technical and consulting assistance for planning, development and execution of new and/or best practices in tourism management strategies and experience creation and product development.

Grant applications are accepted once per year for a minimum amount of $15,000 and a maximum amount of $40,000. Qualifying organizations must be a Maine non-profit organization, municipality or tribal government.

Deadline – Letter of Intent – 2pm, April 19, 2024 
Application Deadline: 2pm, May 24th, 2024
