Join MOFGA and Cultivating Community at Hurricane Valley Farm (HVF) in Falmouth for an end-of-the-season tour and discussion directed at home gardeners and led by Horticultural Specialist Pamela Hargest of UMaine Cooperative Extension and MOFGA Agricultural Services Director Dave Colson.
They will offer tips on wrapping up the garden season, preparing for winter, and setting yourself up for success next spring. This will include discussions about incorporating soil building and pest prevention practices into your fall clean up. Bring questions about challenges you experienced in your garden this growing season and we'll discuss how to prevent or manage problems next year. Pictures of pests, disease, etc. are very helpful for diagnosis!
The workshop will begin with an introduction to Cultivating Community’s programs at Hurricane Valley Farm. This farm property was protected from development by the Falmouth Land Trust and this is Cultivating Community’s second season leasing the farm. HVF is one growing site for Cultivating Community’s New American Sustainable Agriculture Project (NASAP) which supports immigrants in starting and operating farm businesses.
