25th Annual Ploye Festival
The second weekend in August is a busy time in Fort Kent. The Fort Kent International Muskie Derby is in full swing and fisher-folks from all over come to catch that record-breaking muskie.
It is also that time when school will soon be in session - and families are trying to get as much summer fun into their everyday life as possible. So what do people who don't fish do during that time? Well, they look for something to celebrate.
What better celebration than for that of an Acadian Icon - the Ploye (the Acadian buckwheat pancake). This event includes activities such as making the world's largest ploye, live music entertainment, craft & vendor fair at the park, and more. It's a weekend of fun for the whole family.
Our Canadian neighbors across the river in Clair, NB also join in the celebration with their activities, making this an international regional event - a little something for everyone.
Fort Kent International Muskie Derby events start Friday morning on Aug. 10, 2018 and run through Sunday early evening. Ploye Festival events run from Friday morning through Saturday.
