Whitehead Island

Whitehead Light was commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson in 1803. It was the seventh lighthouse commissioned in the United States and it has been in continuous operation ever since. The station is now owned by Pine Island Camp, where you can stay and take classes on such topics as beer brewing, knitting and cooking. The camp is also working to renovate the keeper's house and other lighthouse structures. For more information about visiting this light, check the Whitehead Light Station website.
