Eagle Lake

Eagle Lake, which is 18 miles long, serves as the centerpiece of the 23,000-acre Eagle Lake Public Reserved Land in Aroostook County. Eagle Lake is at the southern end of the Fish River Chain of five lakes stretching to Long Lake in St. Agatha. You can fish for landlocked salmon, brook trout and lake trout. You can camp at secluded sites that are only accessible by water.

At this public land, which is open year-round, you can also go hiking, hunting, ATV riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. In January, you can watch the Eagle Lake 100 Sled Dog Race, which brings top mushers from the Northeast and Canada to compete for the largest purse of any 100-mile race in the lower 48 states. A 30-mile race also takes place.
