Open daily from May 1- through the end of October. To protect the Island's wildlife, pets are not allowed. Ferry service across the river (5 minute ride) is provided by reservation only.

An Island in Time, Swan Island is located in the Kennebec River in Richmond, just 20 minutes south of Augusta. There are nesting bald eagles, deer and waterfowl; 5 historic homes dating back to the 1700s; hiking and camping. The Island is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers gorgeous scenery and great photo opportunities. Visitors may self-access in canoes or kayaks; and/or bring or arrange a ferry ride over with a mountain bike to ride the 4 mile long dirt central road.
