Escape to the tranquility of mountain lakes, flowing rivers, and spectacular waterfalls in the heart of an untouched wilderness. Wake up to the echoing calls of native loons and spot an elusive moose as you paddle across Long Pond. Discover dramatic vistas along miles of interconnected trails, or try your hand at landing one of the bountiful brook trout and landlocked salmon that inhabit the nearby ponds and streams.

Built as a private camp in 1867, Gorman Chairback Lodge & Cabins offers a spectacular location off-the-grid in the heart of Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness on the peaceful shores of Long Pond. Hearty, homemade meals in the beautiful-renovated "green" lodge, friendly staff, and cozy private cabins prepare you for hikes to Gulf Hagas and Third Mountain, a lodge-to-lodge cross-country ski trip, or simply a day of lakeside relaxation miles away from life's concerns.

Surrounded by 66,000-acres of AMC-owned conservation land, Gorman Chairback is a perfect stop on AMC's popular lodge-to-lodge ski route, as well as a spectacular wilderness destination with unlimited opportunities for hiking and skiing on over 80 miles of AMC-maintained trails, paddling and fishing for native brook trout and landlocked salmon, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the region.

Activities: hiking, paddling, fishing, x-c skiing, snowshoeing

Accommodations Four private cabins (one ADA accessible) with private bath. Eight private shoreline cabins sleeping one to five. Bunkhouse with shared bath sleeps ten. Sauna available.
