Fort Fairfield blockhouse

The blockhouse and museum commemorate the 19th-century border dispute known as the Aroostook War. The 'war,' between the United States and Great Britain, ended without warfare in 1839. The wooden blockhouse sits on a hill near the US-Canadian border. It is open during the Potato Blossom Festival and by arrangement. For more information, contact the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
