Birch Point State Park

Birch Point State Park is a peaceful and picturesque 62-acre recreational area near Owls Head, Maine, offering visitors scenic views of Penobscot Bay. The park features a crescent-shaped sand beach that provides a serene environment for picnicking, fishing, beachcombing for sea glass and swimming in gentle surf. Swimmers should note, however, that there are no lifeguards on duty.

The beach is complemented by two short trails on either end that wind through coastal forests, leading to rocky headlands with panoramic vistas of the bay and surrounding islands. Keep an eye out for abundant wildlife and explore tide pools that showcase marine life in its natural habitat.

Amenities within the park include picnic tables and grills, restrooms and designated fishing areas. Birch Point State Park is open from 9 a.m. to sunset daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and pets are permitted on leashes.
